Pastor’s Welcome

 

As part of the Body of Christ in Idaho Falls, the members and friends at Trinity UMC gather every Sunday to praise God and learn more about their faith.  We share in fellowship before and after each service, worship together at 9 and 11am, and learn through adult, youth and children’s Sunday School.  Like most United Methodist congregations we take to heart the disciples’ walk to Emmaus in the gospel of Luke, where Jesus was made known in the breaking and sharing of the bread.  We like to eat together!  Communion is shared every week in the 9am Praise and Rejoice service, and monthly in the 11am service.  There is a potluck at noon the second Sunday of every month, breakfast snacks every Sunday before the 9am service, and a coffee hour after the 11am service. 

 

I invite you to attend worship on a Sunday morning.  You may be surprised by the relaxed atmosphere of the  Praise and Rejoice worship service, where it is not unusual for attendees to wear shorts and tee shirts in the summer, music is led by the Praise Band, and for people to go to the back of the sanctuary after the children’s story to refill their coffee cups!  If you attend the Praise and Rejoice service one week you might be surprised by the traditional second service the next week, with the Pipe Organ, Chancel Choir and the Wesley Bell Choir!  The joy of worship in the United Methodist Church is that we are united in our love for Christ, but we do not dictate what each person has to believe.  We encourage diversity in our theology; in essentials unity, in non-essentials liberty.  We encourage people to ask questions about their faith and to even embrace their doubts, because we believe that people grow in their faith as they search for answers. 

 

I hope you will find Trinity a safe place to explore your faith as you worship and live out your faith every day.  You are welcome to stop by Trinity on Sunday morning, or during the week!
